Little Jennie Ranch is seeking a skilled and dependable individual with strong general maintenance, mechanical, and construction experience to join our team. This role works independently under the direction of the ranch’s Construction Manager and supports a wide range of repair, upkeep, and building projects across the ranch.
Work includes ongoing maintenance of ranch buildings, equipment, and infrastructure, as well as construction projects such as homes, barns, historic restoration, livestock handling facilities, and utilities installation and repair.
Little Jennie Ranch is a fully integrated operation, including cow-calf and feeder cattle, hay production, finishing and direct beef sales, and a busy outfitting service. This role is essential to keeping the ranch running efficiently day-to-day.
The Ideal Candidate
The right person is a capable, hands-on problem solver who takes pride in maintaining and improving a working ranch. They are comfortable handling a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks, while also contributing to larger construction projects when needed.
They are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to take ownership of their work with minimal supervision. This individual should be comfortable living and working in a remote setting and willing to step in wherever needed.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
· Perform general maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and ranch infrastructure
· Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, structural, and utility-related issues
· Plan and execute projects as directed by the Construction Manager
· Lead construction projects including framing, finish work, and facility improvements
· Take initiative to begin and complete work efficiently and independently
· Work positively alongside helpers or other teams when needed
· Communicate clearly and respectfully with ranch staff, neighbors, and contractors
· Maintain and enforce safety standards in all work areas
Requirements
· Strong background in general maintenance, repair, and mechanical work
· Carpentry experience (rough and finish)
· Additional trade skills (plumbing, electrical, welding, etc.) strongly preferred
· Proven ability to work well with others in a team environment
· Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and dependable
· Verifiable skill, work ethic, and reputation will be prioritized over years of experience
