Part-time Legal Assistance Needed  (FLEXIBLE HOURS)

Immigrant Hope - Wyoming/Idaho is seeking a detail oriented person to assist in the preparation of immigration applications for clients.  The successful candidate will be provided with on-the-job training. Duties include client interaction, drafting communication, and filing documents. Immigrant Hope is a local nonprofit that provides low to no-cost legal assistance to immigrants seeking to obtain an immigration benefit such as DACA, permanent residency,  citizenship, etc.

Job Description

Hours per week: 20-25, flexible schedule

Location: The job requires working in Jackson, WY at least once per week with occasional work in Driggs, Idaho.  Some paperwork can be done remotely.

Pay: $17-22/hr DOE.  Benefits include paid time off and sick leave.


  • Legal US resident, citizen, or DACA recipient
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Passion and drive to help immigrants gain residency and citizenship
  • Good cross-cultural and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, and a team player 
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Ideal Candidate would also have:

  • Previous immigration law and procedure experience and training

Position Description: 

  • Answer the Immigrant Hope phone and schedule consultations in English and Spanish
  • Assist in the preparation of immigration applications for clients, including but not limited to naturalization, green card, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate, complete and confidential case files
  • Copy and scan documents
  • Organize documents for filing  
  • Scan old client files for online storage
  • Perform other office duties as assigned
  • Provide referrals to other community agencies
  • Work towards accreditation by shadowing the accredited representative and taking immigration law courses


Immigrant Hope is able to provide immigration legal assistance through the Department of Justice’s Accreditation and Recognition Program.  An Accredited Representative represents immigrants and provides immigration-related legal services to low-income or indigent individuals on behalf of a recognized nonprofit organization.

The Legal Assistant will assist the current  local US Department of Justice accredited representative and be willing to work towards US DOJ accreditation.  In order to become accredited, individuals must complete an online overview of immigration law, pass an open-book test, and add 100 hours or more of experience in immigration legal work, all paid for by Immigrant Hope.
