New West KnifeWorks excited to announce its expansion on the Town Square.  While growing its sales space, New West will  also be opening up Jackson's newest contemporary art gallery featuring local artist Connor Liljestrom. New West is looking for the right candidate to take over the art world. 

Job Description:

Gallery Director will be responsible for establishing the artistic policy of a gallery and managing its day-to-day operations. Working with our artist and COO, the gallery director will take responsibility for all artwork and exhibits from a piece’s inception to the shipping and purchasing logistics.


This position requires an understanding and appreciation of art, combined with the business and marketing skills to manage a team and run a profitable operation. 

In order to qualify for this position it is mandatory that the applicant contain one of the following:

  1. Hold a bachelor's or master's degree in an arts-related topic, such as art management or history of art.
  2.  Have 5+ years of significant experience in art sales or a management role in an art gallery.

Gallery Director will require a wide-ranging knowledge of art.  It is essential that the Gallery Director build a strong relationship with potential buyers, interior designers, and the like to ensure the success of the gallery.




To attract visitors to the gallery, Gallery Director must have the experience and skills to develop effective event marketing programs. This includes a good understanding of social media platforms, customer acquisition software, and basic understanding of using an e-commerce platform. Director will exhibit catalogs, working with graphic designers, photographers and printers. To launch events Director must invite art influencers, interior designers, journalists, donors and selected guests to a private viewing. They promote exhibitions to the wider community through a gallery website, posters, invitations to people on the gallery mailing list and editorial coverage in the media.

Gallery Director will seek showing and award opportunities nationally and internationally including art fairs (art basel) and museum shows. 


Public Relations and National Marketing

Director will have a focus on marketing the gallery and building the reputation of Connor Liljestrom as Jackson Hole’s premier fine art painter.  Director will also focus on building Connor’s reputation as one of America’s Premier Contemporary Western Art painters. In concert with the New West Knifeworks marketing team will build his reputation through exposure in National Art and Design media, get his work displayed in museums, exhibit his work in important national shows and more.



Director will take responsibility for selling works of art to build gallery income. They maintain relationships with collectors, auction houses and art correspondents to build a network to expose Connor and New West to bigger domestic and global markets. Director will also monitor sale prices so that realistic values on the work in client commissioned pieces can be obtained.


Gallery Management

Gallery directors require the management skills to run the day-to-day operations of a gallery. This includes the recruiting of staff to manage and train. Directors must manage budgets to ensure that the gallery remains profitable. directors must have the knowledge and know how to generate and  provide regular reports to the COO and Connor Liljestrom.
