Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping all aspects of the Jackson Greenhouse fully operational, ensuring uninterrupted production, and maintaining high levels of safety and cleanliness throughout the facility. 

Furthermore, the Facilities Maintenance Technician leads effectively by helping others learn and modeling the pace, quality, and consistency of all daily tasks. This position requires the organizational skills to drive a dynamic team and ensure the highest standards of maintaining a safe and mechanically sound work environment. In addition, this position could be called upon to help prepare for future farms. 

All positions at Vertical Harvest are dependent on need, and may require weekend and some holiday shifts. Additionally, all employees are expected to contribute to the success of the greenhouse and as such may be cross-trained across departments as need(s) arise. 

Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Location: Vertical Harvest Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Reports to: Facilities Manager, Director of Growing and Food Safety

Works with: Greenhouse Staff and Managers, Waiver Job Supports, Volunteers, Interns, Grow Well Team, HQ, Vendors

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to perform all daily, weekly, monthly and yearly maintenance tasks to ensure uninterrupted production in the facility
• Maintain vendor relationships and schedule provided services
• Order replacement parts and keep track of facilities inventory
• Effectively able to triage, diagnose and communicate issues within the facilities department and with the entire greenhouse team
• Ensure implementation of Vertical Harvest Jackson’s Maintenance Plan, including building and delegating a schedule of preventative maintenance tasks to the Facilities team
• Provide mentorship and guidance to build skill sets and confidence among the Facilities team
• Assist with the ongoing development of VH Worker Safety Policies/Procedures
• Adhere to VH Food Safety Policies/Procedures in compliance with USDA Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)

ESSENTIAL TRAITS & CHARACTERISTICS

• 2+ years of experience in building maintenance and system controls, including plumbing and electrical
• Experience with power and hand tools 
• Physically able to walk and stand for most of an 8 hour day
• Physically able to lift up to 50lbs and climb ladders
• Comfortable with sound (machines, vacuums, doors) and light (natural and artificial)
• Experience with CMMS software
• Safety-centered mindset
• Excellent communication skills  
• Excellent record keeping, documentation and organizational skills
• Able to manage, prioritize, and complete multiple projects simultaneously
• Action-oriented with the ability to multi-task in an unstructured environment
• Results driven, energetic, confident personality
